Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a number of questions that you may have about a home visit.
We provide an answer to each question, however if your question is not there or you need more information, then please get in touch with us.
A Home Visit is when one of our Move Managers visits your home in order to discover what items you require to be moved. They will survey all of the rooms, cupboards, attics, cellars and garages in order to calculate the overall volume and weight of possessions you have to move. You will be able to identify the items to be moved as well as items that are not to be moved. The Move Manager will also look at access and parking for the moving vehicles and how your home may need to be protected during the moving process. All of this information will then be used to produce a quote for your move.
A Move Manager is a member of our staff who will guide you through your entire move. They will help you to consider all aspects of your move, including packing options, to ensure that you receive an accurate quote for your move. You will be able to contact your Move Manager if you have any questions about your move.
When we send you a quote it will include the cost to move your possessions from the addresses you have provided. If you have additional items to move, for example to collect items that are in storage, then this will also be included. If you have requested a quote for packing then this will be included as a separate line item. Depending on the type of move you require then insurance cover may be included. VAT will also be listed on our quote.
If your removal quote is for our full 5 Star moving service then your quote will include insurance. However if using our man-and-van service then insurance is not included.
We aim to send you our quote within 24 hours of receiving your request.
Our quotes are valid for 30 days. If you are not able to confirm your booking within that time then our staff will be able to re-issue our quote.
If, on move day, you discover items that you would like moved but these items were not included in the Home Visit or in the Removal Quote form, then we should still be able to move them for you. However, depending on the size, weight and quantity of the items, the overall cost of your move may increase.
When selecting the full packing service our professional packers will pack all of your possessions. This will include fragile and non-fragile belongings, as well as awkward items like large televisions, large mirrors and artwork. If you select a fragile only pack then our staff will only pack your fragile possessions, for example, glasses, china and ornaments. The list of fragile and non-fragile items that you would like to be packed can be discussed with your Move Manager.
To confirm that you would like to go ahead with a booking then please follow the steps detailed in our emails. If in any doubt then please call us on 0141 639 3931.
If it’s not possible for one of our Move Managers to visit your home, then we would request that you complete the Removal Quote form or the Video Survey form. These forms ask for information about your move and about the items that you require to be moved. Once we have received these details then we will be able to send you a quote for your move.
